RECCAA-NIT Meeting on 1st May 2008A Paradigm ShiftA refreshing change- that was the hallmark of the 2008 Mayday celebrations held at DD Retreat Lawns on 1st May ,Thursday. The whole format had changed to a very exciting one. The decoration was subtle yet enchanting.As usual in spite of the early bird prizes , Reccaaites and families assembled at the venue as if to remind us time must have a stop. As for statistics, at the scheduled time there was 5% strength, progressed to 40% by within an hour of scheduled start and progressively swelled to full gathering by 8.30 pm, that is a good three hours from scheduled start. Time and tide should learn to wait for a Reccaite-( Nitian included)!However this will not deter our ever determined secretary Sri Sandeep Krishnan K K to start the functions, who put every one in his place--- some on the dais, some at registration counter. Sri. Prof Dr.Babu T Jose graced the occasion with his presence He had good find for the evening , a compeer, a beautiful Soumya who became cynosure of all eyes for the evening .She ably kept the usually restless crowd in discipline and patience. Sandeep and his Y2k brigade regaled us with a plethora of quizzes and games. This ReccaaNit website www.reccaa-nit.org was launched by ReccaaNit president Sri Jayaprakash G. Sri.Regil Das has given a briefing on the facilities available in the website. Master Achuth Govind R Das has guided reccaites to register in the ReccaaNit website. The screening of the short film ‘Assasin’ by young Reccaites showed that creative spark still glowing in them. The audience remained in rapt attention and appreciation of the film. There were instant reviews and commentaries in the audience. For many the film was a high brow stuff. Then followed the game of introduction and quizzing by Sandeep and Soumya . An evening to remember thanks to the young generation reccaites. May this be an harbinger to many more of such events led by our Y2k Brigade. The numerous gifts that were offered ought to be an incentive to those who won and to those who could not. Again a clever device by the youngsters to attract more participation- gifts and prizes for almost everyone –that too valuable ones. Reccaites who did not come for the May day , please take note that you had missed a lot. Finally there was sumptuous dinner. Thank you reccaities for making the evening joyous one with whole hearted participation. |
